book store run with mama y papa

mini haul because my sister and her fiancé (belle and jordan) decided to kidnap me and take me to the new barnes and noble that opened near our house.

first of all, it was a beautiful store. i loved how it was organized and the amount of things, both books and other things alike. i do wish that some of the sections, like the horror and adult romance sections, were a bit larger, but other than that, everything was perfect. i'm excited to visit the cafe next time i go; maybe lizzy and i can grab lunch there some time when she's back for christmas break.

anyways, the haul: belle got four books, all adult romances, none of which i've ever heard of. but hey, you like what you like. jordan got a bookmark, and he also was kind enough to buy my book for me (shoutout to you, dude. you're a real one).

i decided to get in the miso soup by ryu murakami and translated into english by ralph mccarthy. i wanted to read this novel, which adult horror, when i was a teenager, but i never got around to it. honestly, probably a good thing. nobody ever monitored what i read when i was younger because i was "mature for my age" and could handle more adult topics, which... yes, i could, but that doesn't mean that i should've been reading them anyway. like, i shouldn't have been reading wicked: the life and times of the wicked witch of the west by gregory maguire when i was fourteen, yet there i was, sat at my desk at my very conservative and religious school, reading about elphaba and fiyero having hot, hot sex. also, yes, that novel was the inspiration for the stage musical wicked, which was then adapted into the films wicked and wicked: for good by jon chu.

i'm excited to read in the miso soup. i knew more about it when i was younger, but i've since forgotten so i'm pretty much going to go in blind. i wanted to read some more of the author's other works, too, but i think i'll start with this one to see if i like it instead of buying all of them and then realizing i wasted so much money if i hate this book. thankfully, that hasn't happened to me before, but i have little self-control when it comes to buying books (well, buying anything really. i have a money spending problem)

well, that's all for this post! until next time!
