october passed me by

hello, lovelies!

and so another month has come and gone, so i bring you my october wrap-up! a lot of things happened this month, and i'm very excited to see what november will bring me.

first, let's start with books. technically, i only read about thirteen books this month, which is around the average for me; if we want to be absurd, i read forty-five books. BUT!! of those forty-five, thirty-one of them were short stories i read for my october classic horror stories challenge. i had to log them all individually, but they were all (with maybe three exceptions) in one book. will my numbers be thrown off? yes, but i don't care. this is for ME.

* king of wrath by ana huang
* hello beautiful by ann napolitano
* the guy she was interested in wasn't a guy at all volume 1 by sumiko arai
* the guy she was interested in wasn't a guy at all volume 2 by sumiko arai
* the guy she was interested in wasn't a guy at all volume 3 by sumiko arai
* the guy she was interested in wasn't a guy at all volume 4 by sumiko arai
* pet sematary by stephen king
* welcome to the hynam-don bookshop by hwang bo-reum
* she's a doll by barbara truelove
* the pumpkin spice cafe by laurie gilmore
* brutal prince by sophie lark
* audition by ryu murakami
* the haunting of hill house by shirley jackson
* 'salem's lot by stephen king
* thirty-one assorted short horror stories

i also read a lot of fanfiction, but that's nothing new nor is it something i log. maybe next year i'll start logging them. if you want to see all the short stories i read in october, go check out my goodreads or my storygraph! i'll also maybe be doing a whole dedicated post for my november tbr, since i do have a few things lined up.

now, onto another form of media: movies and tv! i did another little challenge this month, which was a spooky movie for every day of october, so i wanted to watch thirty-one movies MINIMUM. instead, i watched seventy-five films this month (seventy-three of which were horror, thriller, or general autumnal/halloween vibes), which is kinda wild since i've been in a bit of a slump, believe it or not. as for television, i only watched over the garden wall (which is a yearly rewatch, and if you haven't seen it i highly recommend it), the first season of yellowjackets, and miscellaneous halloween episodes from different shows. OH i also rewatched the fall of the house of usher and the haunting of bly manor, and i finally watched midnight mass. mike flanagan, the man that you are. he's bald because his brain is so full of ideas. i'd list all the movies i watched in october here, but there are just so many that i kinda don't want to type them all out haha. i will, however, give you all the highlights. if you want the full list of movies, you can see them on my letterboxd under the tag "halloween '26"!

* the nightmare before christmas
a classic, i'm glad i started my month off with this one!
* twitches
i remember watching this every year for disney's monstober with my sister, so this brought back some memories
* ginger snaps
i was thoroughly surprised by this movie, and i think it's going to be added to my yearly rewatches
* forbidden fruits
a new favourite omg. i'm so gay.
* house of wax (2005)
chad michael murray is my nemesis
* jennifer's body
iconic. she is a god.
* hocus pocus
i remember being obsessed with sarah sanderson when i was a kid, even though i had never seen the movie. we should've seen the signs, the closet was glass.
* halloweentown
this one. this is my favourite halloween disney channel original movie (dcom).
* the rocky horror picture show
tim curry as doctor frank-n-furter is the epitome of sex.
* lisa frankenstein
kathryn newton, i love you

on halloween night, i did a marathon of a bunch of spooky movies while i handed out candy to the kiddos. it was really great, and i can't wait to do it again next year. i also want to maybe do a post about my november watchlist, as there are still some autumnal movies i want to watch before december and the christmas season officially begins.

the music i listened to consisted of only my halloween playlist haha. i really wanted to be in THE mood for the entire month, and i figured that would be the best way.

i'm glad that october is over, because this month was insane. three parties, so many family get togethers, and an escape room. but it was great to see lizzy, and it was really great to see my little cousin. he's so sweet, and he said I'M HIS FAVOURITE COUSIN!! the way that made my day.

the engagement party was actually a lot of fun. i've already kinda talked about it in a previous post, so i won't waste a lot of time rehashing the same stuff again. the bridal party (minus one) did an escape room, and it was actually so much fun, even if we didn't escape. we just barely missed it! we were literally so close. like, half a puzzle away. plus, it was a good bonding experience for those of us who didn't know each other yet. the other bridesmaids are actually pretty fun! my family and i ended up doing another escape room about a week later, and we actually won this one! i solved the final half of the final puzzle, with the help of my older brother (even if he was giving us the wrong code. step it up, david).

i did, however, get sick after the engagement party, so i was kinda confined to my room for the next week. plus, i got a friction burn on one of my ankles from the shoes i wore to the party, so i wasn't really able to walk much. at least i didn't have anything to do. besides endless chores and keeping myself alive.

i've been trying to think of what to do with my tiktok account i made for this blog, but i've got nothing. i was never the person that posted on social media a lot, so i've been a bit lost as to what to do or how to go about making videos for it. same with my youtube channel. this blog is the most consistently active i've been on a social platform ever.

well, i'm sure i'll think of something. anyways, this just about concludes my october wrap-up! i'm excited to see what november will hold for me, and i hope you all had a good october and a happy halloween!

until next time!

xoxo
