i finally watched ready or not because i really wanted to watch ready or not 2 because i'm madly in love with kathryn newton AND i think shawn hatosy is hot. unfortunately i think i may just be bisexual, as that old man who's quite literally my father's age is just super hot to me. all respect to his wife, of course. but goddamn...
ANYWAYS i really liked ready or not and i LOVED ready or not 2. they reminded me of you're next, which is one of my favourite thriller films (the first time i watched any of it, i was nine and my dad put it on since he, my mom, my cousin, and her then boyfriend were out there and wanted to watch a movie. my mom was detangling my hair, and if you don't know the first scene of the film, it's a couple having sex. that was my first exposure to it, actually. well, second, actually. the first was earlier the same year when my dad was watching me for the first time and he asked if i wanted to watch a tv show with him. i said sure, and we proceeded to watch the first episode of series one of black mirror. if you know, you know. thanks, dad). if i had a nickel for each time a thriller film used bonnie tyler's hit song total eclipse of the heart as the soundtrack to a sick fight sequence that ended up being my favourite part of the movie, i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
i've also come to realize that radio silence (the directorial team behind both ready or not films as well as the thriller abigail from a couple years back) might be some of my favourite directors. i loved abigail when i saw it with my dad (also name reveal! my name is abigail, but louise is my middle name! i just prefer to go by louise in most online spaces), and i adored the ready or not films. i can't wait to see what they do next, as well as check out their other stuff.
