i was originally going to do an all-nighter but i like to sleep too much

 hello, lovelies!

i know i made a post about some of the movies i'd be watching in october, but i wanted to make a dedicated post to the movies i watched during my halloween marathon that i had on october thirty-first!

this is gonna be kind of a longish post, so i'm going to get right on into it!

john carpenter's halloween (1978)

shockingly, a classic i had never seen until now. i know, it's crazy. i really liked it, and i think it'll be a staple for me every year from now on. a permanent spot on my roster. how prestigious.

it's the great pumpkin, charlie brown (1966)

i saw this once when i was maybe seven or eight, and then never again. when i was a teenager, i thought i had just imagined seeing this until i saw the clip of charlie going "i got a rock" online. this is another one that's being added to my permanent yearly roster.

πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

carrie (1976)

ideally i would've read the book before watching this, but alas. this film is considered a classic for a reason, and i can understand why. i, too, was absolutely terrified and thought i was dying when i got my first period. it just didn't awaken any telekinetic powers for me, just unbridled rage.

πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

halloweentown (1998)

i've watch this one every october for about ten years now, and i don't plan on stopping that tradition any time soon. though, i usually watch it earlier in the month than halloween, but i don't mind as long as i got to watch it at all.

πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

lisa frankenstein (2024)

iconic. to me it's in the same category as forbidden fruits, and honestly? a new fav. i will be trying to find it on dvd to add to my ever growing collection. thank god for free streaming platforms.

πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

hell fest (2018)

i've seen bits of this one way back when it first came out, but i never watched the entire thing. i did, however, watch the kill count done by dead meat when it was first uploaded (shout out to james and the entire team over there. some of my all time favs).

πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

the faculty (1998)

i watched this for the first time over the summer and y'all... i love movies like this. also points for not only shawn hatosy, but also clea duvall and elijah wood. another movie i will be on the look out for on dvd. it's not a want, it's a need.

πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

monster house (2006)

i've had this one on dvd my entire life, and i remember being TERRIFIED of it as a child. thanks cynthia and patrick for thinking this movie was appropriate to let a three year old watch by herself. still, i love this movie.

πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

rocky horror picture show (1975)

it's an affront to my queerness that i hadn't seen this movie until now. it's also an affront to the theater kid i've always been. a shame, a damn shame. rest in peace tim curry. i feel that this one is also in the same vein of campiness as lisa frankenstein and forbidden fruits. like, there's just something about them that draws me to them.

πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

sleepy hollow (2000)

let me be clear, i don't like johnny depp, and you all already know how i feel about tim burton (if you don't, i hate him too. fuck that guy). unfortunately, he's a good actor and i love several movies he's been a part of. genuinely awful. but i've had this movie on my watchlist since i watched rachel maksey's video of her recreating one of katrina's dresses.

πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

after the movie marathon, during which i chickened out on watching a few movies (the exorcist, i'm looking at you), i decided to end the night by watching some halloween themed episodes of tv. i'd do a list, but i'm tired and i can feel the melatonin i took kicking in and cornering me in a dark alley. i honestly just clicked on the shuffled playlist of halloween episodes on hulu and sat and watched until now. there was some bob's burgers, modern family, how i met your mother, community, superstore, and several ryan murphy shows. i can never escape from that man. i'm not happy about the gleeboot, by the way. i miss naya rivera and corey monteith. fuck that other guy, i hope he's burning in the hottest, deepest pit of hell.

well, that's all for this post. i hope you all are having or have had a good halloween! i love you all!! until next time!

xoxo
